NOVEMBER ACTIVITIES FOR SENIORS
Here is the list of senior activities we have planned for the month of November:
NOTE! PROGRAM CHANGE FOR 11/6. The Action for Older Persons discussion, originally scheduled for this date, will meet on 11/20 instead.
On Weds., November 6, 2024, we’re featuring a craft class, “Button Art on Canvas”. Bring your tin full of unwanted buttons or whatever ones you might have, and we’ll put them to good use! We’ll provide some supplies, but feel free to bring any supplies from home that you might use in a basic craft project. Canvas and buttons will also be supplied. On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Seniors Book Club will be featuring Missy Chapman’s “Distant Skies: An American Journey on Horseback”. Missy Chapman, author and Town of Binghamton resident, will be joining us on this day. If you haven’t read the book, please feel free to join us anyway! We’ll meet in the Conference Room at the Town Hall, located at 279 Park Avenue. PLEASE NOTE: The Book Club (as a group) chooses the books to be featured each month. If you have a book you’d like to recommend, please bring it with you to the next meeting and join our club!
Also on Tuesday, November 6 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy a game of UNO at the Town Hall! For those wishing to enjoy an afternoon of comradery playing UNO, feel free to join Dennis See in the Town Board Room at Town Hall. All are welcome and feel free to bring a friend. On Tues., November 19, 2024, the annual seniors “Holiday Dinner” will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richard T. Stank Middle School, located at 1040 Conklin Road. The cost is $6 per person and includes all of the traditional holiday trimmings, including turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and more!
Take-out orders MUST be called in no later than Tuesday, November 12th. Take-outs can be picked up between 1:30 and 2 p.m. this day. You can purchase tickets in advance at the Middle School or pay at the door on the day of the event. If you have questions, please call (607) 775-9129.
On Weds., November 20, 2024, “Action for Older Persons” will be with us to discuss Medicare updates. Now is the time to get answers to your questions with the Medicare open enrollment now underway. In addition, the “Long Term Care Ombudsman Program” will be discussed. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) is a federal advocacy program dedicated to protecting people living in long-term care facilities. The Seniors Commission encourages all seniors 55 and older to come out to these events.
