Where can I get wood chips and compost?
The Town provides residents with free compost and wood chips on a first-come, first-serve basis. These items are limited and are seasonal. They are located at the highway garage.
How do I get a new sluice (driveway) pipe?
If your driveway pipe needs to be replaced, and you are a town resident who lives on a town-maintained road, the Highway Department will install a new pipe for you after you have purchased the pipe from us. Please call the garage at 607-669-4323 for more information and prices.
We need to know your address, length and diameter of the pipe and when you need it installed. DIG Safe NY needs to be contacted, which takes a few days for the proper facilities to mark out the property. We can assist with pipe size upon evaluation. Questions? Please call us at the Highway Department.
Can I drop off metal items at the Highway Department?
Yes, Town Residents may drop off ONLY metal items at the highway garage and place them in the blue ” Gary’s U-Pull it” dumpster.
Metal Only! NO wood, TVs, paint, or items containing freon (such as refrigerators and air conditioners) from which you must drain the freon.
We do not have a public dump and there is absolutely no dumping of any materials at our facility. We do not take yard waste or garbage. Please contact your local garbage hauler.
